We were so excited for mom and dad to come and visit; and most of all, we were looking forward to Italy!! This is probably on everyone's bucket list and we are so fortunate to live only a short-plane ride away. I had been planning this trip for months and so ready to execute!! We were also fortunate to have great weather during out 5-day stay in Rome and Florence. We arrived to Rome early Saturday morning and were picked up by our hotel, La Papessa. They were a wonderful little B & B that took great care of us. After we unpacked, we took off for the streets of Rome. We walked to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo de Fiori, and the Trevvi Fountain.
We were only about 5 blocks from the Pantheon, which was our first stop of many sights to see in Rome. It is pictured below.
We then continued on and walked over to the Piazza Novona, which was a large plaza with large statues. The streets were lined with restaurants and outdoor patios. I did not feature Campo di Fiori; however, it was a large food market of fruits, vegetables, pastas, spices, grains and wine. It was fun to be a part of and we bought some special pastas to take home.
We then proceeded to the Trevvi Fountain which was also very close to our hotel. This was one of my favorite things in Rome. It was gorgeous. The one in Vegas is great, but you can't beat the real deal!!
It was then close to dinner time, and what a better way to enjoy Rome then eating on the outdoor patio under an umbrella and drinking wine. This was enjoyed by all every night!! Preston was a great sport and usually ate his fair share of pasta or pizza!!
This closed out day 1 and we were prepared for a long day ahead for day 2. Read on to see more of our adventures in Rome!
