Wine Harvest in Trittenheim, Germany!!

This past weekend, I got the opportunity to take advantage of a program on base called Give Parents a Break.  It is designed for deployed spouses and provides free child care for 5 hours on a Friday evening or Saturday.  Our wonderful commander's spouse, Sabrina Long, planned for the spouses to go help pick grapes in vineyards along the Mosel River and help with a wine harvest.  One of the most amazing and unique experiences I will probably ever have in my life and crossing off another check on my bucket list.  So blessed to live in this area and experience the amazing fall weather.  And so thankful to have child care so I care partake in these experiences!!  Germany is most known for it's white wine, Riesling.  I am not a huge fan of white's but they are growing on me.  We helped out on a certain vineyard that has a amazing Riesling that I truly enjoy.  I am planning on purchasing several bottles here in the near future.

Sabrina and I posing before we started getting to work.

Hard at work cutting grapes off the vine!

Stopping for a camera shot! :)

Ms. Elana and Ms. Heidi picking away!!

It was a beautiful day for grape picking.  Look at the breath taking views!!

The fruits of our labor...

The reward for our hard efforts!!

It was a delightful glass of Riesling!

The day came to an end and we returned to gather our children.  Later on in the day, myself, Sabrina, and another spouse plopped our babies in the strollers and walked into the center of our village for some dinner from one of the restaurants in Speicher called City Grill.  I then got my first Doner Kabob!! It was delicious!! We tried to stay outdoors as long as possible since the weather was so nice and it is coming to an end! Until next time...
